In the city, the bin was always full.

Food scraps, packaging, offcuts we’d squash it down to make room before collection day.

Out here, we compost. We feed the chickens. We use less, choose better, waste less.

And now? Most weeks the bin isn’t even half full.

It’s not something we set out to do. It just happened slowly, quietly, like the soil building up in the compost bay.

What used to be rubbish is now eggs, or vegetables, or dirt.

We didn’t just take waste out of the bin, we put it back into the cycle of life here.

And somehow, that small change made everything feel more connected.
